Digital For Youth: A powerful mission

Digital for Youth is a non-profit organisation with a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that all children and young people in Belgium have safe and easy access to a laptop. Almost half of the Belgian population is at risk of digital exclusion, according to a recent study by the King Baudouin Foundation. This is a challenge that Digital for Youth does not shy away from.

Digital for Youth collects discarded company laptops and refurbishes (‘refurbishes’) them and then donates them to those who need them most. All this is made possible by the generosity of companies that donate their ICT equipment and DFY’s dedication to giving these laptops a second life.

Since its inception in 2019, it has distributed more than 23,400 laptops to social organisations and schools. These laptops are used for a wide range of activities ranging from homework help to digital skills workshops, bridging the digital divide step by step.
